Field Trip: Zenger Farm
Join us on a field trip to Zenger Farm in East Portland! We will be touring the farm, harvesting produce, and cooking a meal together using the farm’s wood fired oven. This field trip is free! We are prioritizing queer and BIPOC community members for this trip.
Native Plant Wellness Stroll and Roll
Communing with nature in a safe way is essential to individual and collective healing, rest, resistance, and community building. Join Shinjini and Bowie on Sunday, October 30th for an interactive event at the intersections of mental health and wellness and native plants at Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. We’ll be providing hot drinks and ube crinkles from The Kalat House.
The pathway we’ll be using is ADA accessible. Meet at the parking lot where the trailhead is at SE Milwaukie and Mitchell.
Field Trip: Solstice Flower Works
Join us for our first bloom club field trip at Solstice Flower Works! We will be doing a farm tour, sharing lunch from Jerusalem Rose Market together, and having a flower arranging workshop where you’ll get to design and take home an arrangement made with flowers from Kale’s farm.
Pedalpalooza Gardens Ride
We’ll be doing a low key, all paces and ages welcome tour of different SE Portland community gardens. This ride will be 7 miles, starting at lower Brooklyn Park off of SE Milwaukie across from the Biketown station and ending at the future bloom club garden lot between SE 9th and Cora. We will have cold drinks and snacks at the end of the ride at the lot if you want to kick it with us and learn a little more about our mutual aid gardening framework and part of what we’re working towards!
Biketown is offering 10 $15 ride codes for this event to use their e-bikes. Please use one of these codes if you do not have access to a bike or if an e-bike increases the physical accessibility of participation.
Here’s a map of our ride!
Draw Your Dream Garden
Join us on Thursday at the future garden. We’ll be talking about and drawing our own dream gardens together. It’s a great exercise in imagining and are also practical planning and landscape application! We’ll have vegan paletas from Ice Queen and cold drinks. Please bring your own blanket, chair, or other resting tool and print or digital drawing materials.
We will also be live streaming this on Insta for folks who are unable to make it. We continue to seek ways to meaningfully include disabled and immunocompromised neighbors in our in person planning. If you have suggestions or ideas you are willing to share, we welcome and are committed to being receptive to them.
community plant pop up with friends
Join the club next Saturday for the return of our community plant pop up in Brooklyn Park! Our friends The Street Trust, City Repair, and Backyard Habitat will be there to connect with you about transportation, community building, and PLANTS!
We’ll have kombuchas generously donated by Brew Dr., cool prizes from Meta Pizza, Adapt Café, Third Eye Books, Biketown, and Portland Plant Nursery, plenty of baby plants to get your garden started, and sunshine-y feels to fill your Saturday with!
